Given that so much fine music has been written around the theme of the Saints, the only problem with picking a programme of music for November 1st, All Saints' Day, is to know what to leave out. As it emerged, two threads ran through the programme: all of the music sets words associated with this season, or with other Saints' Days; and all of it was by English composers.
